Fairness

Fairly Sourced Beans

Fairness to farmers is a real challenge with chocolate. The price offered farmers by the big commercial chocolate producers who make your KitKat, Mars, Snickers, etc. bars are not sustainable (Psst: the chocolate is poor quality and very sugary). Farmers are destroying their ecology to produce at low prices and younger people are leaving farms that won't make them a decent living. To secure beans, the big commercial companies rely on many levels of traders, rarely working directly with farmers. So increased prices for cacao beans is likely to flow to traders, not farmers.
